Everyone around the world has somehow been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic that has changed the definition of what normal life is. The virus has struck many financially, emotionally, and physically as thousands have lost a battle against this novel disease. During these tough times, everyone has been on their own, fighting to survive, pay bills and just be able to make it to the next day, week, or month.

James Anderson, a plumber, started DEPHER (Disabled and Elderly Plumbing and Heating Emergency Response) in 2017 after he found out that a plumbing company had tried to commit fraud with a disabled man. This incident shook him and he was unable to understand how someone could do that to another person with a disability.

That incident encouraged him to help people with disabilities or the elderly with their plumbing problems for no fee. Since he started DEPHER he has helped around 10,000 families without charging a single penny. This includes elderly people, people with disabilities, or people who just could not afford to pay for their plumbing or heating-related problems on their property.

Since the Covid-19 outbreak, Anderson has not only assisted people with free plumbing and heating services but has also gotten food to people, bought PPE and some have even reported that he has paid their bills.

Anderson, when asked, has informed that he has been working 7 days a week and a lot more than he usually does. According to him, helping people brings him a lot of happiness and he has never regretted spending money and helping people without getting anything in return. He is, what one would call him, a guardian angel for many with the work he has done and the people he has helped.

Anderson, himself, is a father of six children who he has to feed but this has not stopped him from doing what he does and changing lives. It is reported that he has spent about £57000 just during the Covid-19 pandemic. He says that every penny was worth it because he was able to relieve a lot of people of their money worries.

Even during Christmas and New Year, he worked to ensured that he could somehow help people and lessen their worries in any way he could. He took about 93 jobs during this time that were completely free of cost.
